Chemical resistant textiles are vital for safeguarding humans against chemical hazards in various settings, such as industrial production, chemical accidents, laboratory activities, and road transportation. However, the ideal integration of chemical resistance, thermal and moisture management, and wearer condition monitoring in conventional chemically protective textiles remains challenging. Herein, the design, manufacturing, and use of stretchable hierarchical core–shell yarns (HCSYs) for integrated chemical resistance, moisture regulation, and smart sensing textiles are demonstrated. These yarns contain helically elastic spandex, wrapped silver-plated nylon, and surface-structured polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) yarns and are designed and manufactured based on a scalable fabrication process. In addition to their ideal chemical resistance performance, HCSYs can function as multifunctional stretchable electronics for real-time human motion monitoring and as the basic element of intelligent textiles. Furthermore, a desirable dynamic thermoregulation function is achieved by exploiting the fabric structure with stretching modulation. Our HCSYs may provide prospective opportunities for the future development of smart protective textiles with high durability, flexibility, and scalability.

Solvent-resistant porous membranes using poly(ether−ether ketone): preparation and application

摘要: Poly(ether−ether ketone) (PEEK) is a linear aromatic macromolecule, which can form semi-crystalline aggregative status, allowing PEEK materials to have strong environment tolerance and excellent physicochemical properties. PEEK materials have become a promising alternative to fabricate particular membranes used in extreme conditions. In the past few decades, many researches and evolutions have emerged in membrane fabrication with PEEK materials and its applications for treating organic solvents and their mixtures; however, there are little systematic and comprehensive literature to summarize fabrication approaches, compile applications, and elaborate PEEK property-structure relationship. In this review, the main approaches to fabricate PEEK-based membranes are illustrated concretely, including conventional thermal-induced and non-solvent-induced phase separation, and novel chemical-induced crystallization; the representative applications in ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and membrane contactor containing organic solvents are demonstrated systematically. Meanwhile, the mechanism to tune PEEK solubility in solvents, which can be achieved by altering monomers in synthesis processes or changing membrane preparation routes, is deeply analyzed. Moreover, the existing problems and the future prospects are also discussed. This review provides positive guidance for designing and fabricating membranes using PEEK and its derivative materials for task-specific applications in harsh conditions.

摘要:

调控太阳能界面蒸发系统的供液量增强局域热效应是提高其效率的有效途径。然而,由于海水淡化过程中容易盐结晶导致阻塞,在控制供液量实现局域加热过程中存在结盐的临界点,在本研究中,利用简便、可尺寸化的编织技术制备了可调控供液速率的芯鞘结构基光热纱线,实现稳定、高效的太阳能界面蒸发同时防止盐结晶。芯-鞘结构纱线由莫代尔纤维作为芯,碳纤维作为鞘。由于芯-鞘的结构设计,在碳纤维内部的超亲水莫代尔纤维可实现高效的液体输送。芯鞘结构纱线中碳纤维将芯纱完全包裹覆盖使得其编织物在整个太阳光波段具有较高的吸光性(92%)。在一个太阳光(1 kW·m−2)下,通过调节芯鞘纱线内莫代尔纱线的股数,可以使此系统的蒸发速率达到2.12 kg·m−2·h−1,能量转换效率达93.7%。实际应用测试表明,此太阳能界面光热系统可以在5%(质量分数)的NaCl溶液中保持高效稳定的海水淡化性能。

Rapamycin enhances the anti-tumor activity of cabozantinib in cMet inhibitor-resistant hepatocellular

摘要: Cabozantinib, mainly targeting cMet and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2, is the second-line treatment for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the lower response rate and resistance limit its enduring clinical benefit. In this study, we found that cMet-low HCC cells showed primary resistance to cMet inhibitors, and the combination of cabozantinib and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor, rapamycin, exhibited a synergistic inhibitory effect on the in vitro cell proliferation and in vivo tumor growth of these cells. Mechanically, the combination of rapamycin with cabozantinib resulted in the remarkable inhibition of AKT, extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases, mTOR, and common downstream signal molecules of receptor tyrosine kinases; decreased cyclin D1 expression; and induced cell cycle arrest. Meanwhile, rapamycin enhanced the inhibitory effects of cabozantinib on the migration and tubule formation of human umbilical vascular endothelial cells and human growth factor-induced invasion of cMet inhibitor-resistant HCC cells under hypoxia condition. These effects were further validated in xenograft models. In conclusion, our findings uncover a potential combination therapy of cabozantinib and rapamycin to combat cabozantinib-resistant HCC.

Effect of a promoter on the methanation activity of a Mo-based sulfur-resistant catalyst

摘要: The effect of adding Co, Ni or La on the methanation activity of a Mo-based sulfur-resistant catalyst was investigated. As promoters, Co, Ni and La all improved the methanation activity of a 15% MoO /Al O catalyst but to different extents. Similar improvements were also found when Co, Ni or La was added to a 15% MoO /25%-CeO -Al O catalyst. The promotion effects of Co and Ni were better than that of La. However, the catalytic methanation activity deteriorated the most with time for the Ni-promoted catalyst. The used catalysts were analyzed by nitrogen adsorption measurement, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Screening responsive or resistant biomarkers of immune checkpoint inhibitors based on online databases

摘要: Immune checkpoint inhibitors are a promising strategy in the treatment of cancer, especially advanced types. However, not all patients are responsive to immune checkpoint inhibitors. The response rate depends on the immune microenvironment, tumor mutational burden (TMB), expression level of immune checkpoint proteins, and molecular subtypes of cancers. Along with the Cancer Genome Project, various open access databases, including The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus, provide large volumes of data, which allow researchers to explore responsive or resistant biomarkers of immune checkpoint inhibitors. In this review, we introduced some methodologies on database selection, biomarker screening, current progress of immune checkpoint blockade in solid tumor treatment, possible mechanisms of drug resistance, strategies of overcoming resistance, and indications for immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy.

Effect of ultraviolet irradiation and chlorination on ampicillin-resistant

摘要: Antibiotic resistance is a serious public health risk that may spread via potable and reclaimed water. Effective disinfection is important for inactivation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and disruption of antibiotic resistance genes. Ampicillin is a widely prescribed antibiotic but its effectiveness is increasingly undermined by resistance. In this study, changes in ampicillin resistance for ( ) CGMCC 1.1595 were analyzed after exposure to different doses of ultraviolet (UV) or chlorine, and damage incurred by the plasmid encoding ampicillin resistance gene was assessed. We reported a greater stability in ampicillin-resistant CGMCC 1.1595 after UV irradiation or chlorination when compared with previously published data for other strains. UV irradiation and chlorination led to a shift in the mortality frequency distributions of ampicillin-resistant when subsequently exposed to ampicillin. The ampicillin hemi-inhibitory concentration (IC ) without disinfection was 3800 mg·L , and an increment was observed after UV irradiation or chlorination. The IC of ampicillin-resistant was 1.5-fold higher at a UV dose of 40 mJ·cm , and was 1.4-fold higher when exposed to 2.0 mg·L chlorine. These results indicate that UV irradiation and chlorination can potentially increase the risk of selection for strains with high ampicillin resistance. There was no evident damage to after 1–10 mg Cl ·L chlorination, while a UV dose of 80 mJ·cm yielded a damage ratio for of approximately 1.2-log. Therefore, high UV doses are required for effective disruption of antibiotic resistance genes in bacteria.

基于单幅微距图像的布料丝线结构建模 Special Feature on Virtual Reality-Research Articl

摘要: 真实世界的布料具有不同的微观丝线结构,导致不同布料具有各种各样外观。布料真实感绘制在影视制作、电子商务等领域具有重要应用价值。为获取布料微观丝线几何信息,传统方法需要微米CT扫描仪等昂贵复杂设备,并且采集过程费时费力,难以普及。为降低布料丝线获取复杂度,本文提出一种基于单幅微距图像的丝线获取与建模方法,仅需装有微距镜头的普通消费级相机拍摄的微距图像。该方法首先通过单幅微距图像的明暗信息获得丝线的大尺度几何;然后,通过丝线追踪算法获得丝线上的纤维细节;最后将这两者结合,得到布料丝线的微观尺度几何。实验结果表明,本方法能够高效获取各种类型布料丝线几何。

Surface-tailoring chlorine resistant materials and strategies for polyamide thin film composite reverse

摘要: Polyamide thin film composite membranes have dominated current reverse osmosis market on account of their excellent separation performances compared to the integrally skinned counterparts. Despite their very promising separation performance, chlorine-induced degradation resulted from the susceptibility of polyamide toward chlorine attack has been regarded as the Achilles’s heel of polyamide thin film composite. The free chlorine species present during chlorine treatment can impair membrane performance through chlorination and depolymerization of the polyamide selective layer. From material point of view, a chemically stable membrane is crucial for the sustainable application of membrane separation process as it warrants a longer membrane lifespan and reduces the cost involved in membrane replacement. Various strategies, particularly those involved membrane material optimization and surface modifications, have been established to address this issue. This review discusses membrane degradation by free chlorine attack and its correlation with the surface chemistry of polyamide. The advancement in the development of chlorine resistant polyamide thin film composite membranes is reviewed based on the state-of-the-art surface modifications and tailoring approaches which include the in situ and post-fabrication membrane modifications using a broad range of functional materials. The challenges and future directions in this field are also highlighted.

Vehicle roll stability control with active roll-resistant electro-hydraulic suspension

摘要: This study examines roll stability control for vehicles with an active roll-resistant electro-hydraulic suspension (RREHS) subsystem under steering maneuvers. First, we derive a vehicle model with four degrees of freedom and incorporates yaw and roll motions. Second, an optimal linear quadratic regulator controller is obtained in consideration of dynamic vehicle performance. Third, an RREHS subsystem with an electric servo-valve actuator is proposed, and the corresponding dynamic equations are obtained. Fourth, field experiments are conducted to validate the performance of the vehicle model under sine-wave and double-lane-change steering maneuvers. Finally, the effectiveness of the active RREHS is determined by examining vehicle responses under sine-wave and double-lane-change maneuvers. The enhancement in vehicle roll stability through the RREHS subsystem is also verified.

Biomimetic Macrophage–Fe3O4@PLGA Particle-Triggered Intelligent Catalysis for Killing Multidrug-Resistant

摘要: Infections with multidrug-resistant (MRD) Gram-negative bacteria, such as MRD Escherichia coli (E. coli), remain a challenge due to the lack of safe antibiotics and high fatality rates under anti-infection therapies. This work presents a form of biomimetic intelligent catalysis inspired by the selective biocatalytic property of macrophages, consisting of an intelligent controlling center (a living macrophage, MΦ) and a Fenton reaction catalyst (Fe3O4@poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles) for killing MDR E. coli without harming normal cells. The MΦ–Fe3O4@PLGA particles (i.e., the intelligent catalysis particles) exhibit selective biocatalysis activity toward MDR E. coli by producing H2O2 and lipid droplets (LDs). This process activates the lipid metabolism and glycan biosynthesis and metabolism pathways based on the result of RNA sequencing data analysis. The H2O2 further reacts with Fe3O4@PLGA to form highly toxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH), while the LDs contain antimicrobial peptides and can target MDR E. coli. The highly toxic •OH and antimicrobial peptides are shown to combat with MDR E. coli, such that the antibacterial efficiency of the MΦ–Fe3O4@PLGA particles against MDR E. coli is 99.29% ± 0.31% in vitro. More importantly, after several passages, the intelligent catalysis function of the MΦ–Fe3O4@PLGA particles is well maintained. Hence, the concept of biomimetic intelligent catalysts displays potential for treating diseases other than infections.

Prevalence and drug resistance characteristics of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in Hangzhou

With the abuse of antimicrobial agents in developing countries, increasing number of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) attracted considerable public concern. A retrospective study was conducted based on 242 CRE strains from a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou, China to investigate prevalence and drug resistance characteristics of CRE in southeast China. Bacterial species were identified. Antimicrobial susceptibility was examined by broth microdilution method or epsilometer test. Resistant β-lactamase genes were identified by polymerase chain reaction and sequencing. Genotypes were investigated by phylogenetic analysis. and were the most prevalent types of species, with occurrence in 71.9% and 21.9% of the strains, respectively. All strains exhibited high resistance (>70%) against β-lactam antibiotics, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim–sulfamethoxazole, and nitrofurantoin but exhibited low resistance against tigecycline (0.8%) and minocycline (8.3%). A total of 123 strains harbored more than two kinds of β-lactamase genes. , , , and were the predominant genotypes, with detection rates of 60.3%, 61.6%, 43.4%, and 16.5%, respectively, and were highly identical with reference sequences in different countries, indicating potential horizontal dissemination. IMP-4 was the most frequent class B metallo-lactamases in this study. In conclusion, continuous surveillance and effective prevention should be emphasized to reduce spread of CRE.
